Where are the services offered? TOP

Consultation, assessment, and tutoring are done at the HELPS office in Cedar Park, Texas outside of Austin, Texas.

What tutoring services are offered? TOP

Tutoring is available one-on-one or in group sessions.  One-on-one is suggested for reading and writing. Group sessions can be held in the areas of spelling, reading, study skills, and Spanish.

Which assessment instrument should I choose? TOP

Mrs. Hackbarth can guide you through this process.  The assessments that take the least amount of time are the Basic Reading Inventory, The Test of Phonemic Segmentation, and the Learning Modalities Test.  The mid range assessments are the Test of Phonemic Awareness, The Test of Reading Comprehension, The Test of Written Language, The Test of Early Mathematics Ability, The Test of Early Reading Ability, and The Test of Early Written Language.  The assessment that takes the most amount of time to administer and score is the Woodcock Johnson Test because it has several subtests in all academic areas.

How can students be helped by using Memory Magic? TOP

Memory Magic has helped students from Kindergarten through adults in the areas of spelling, reading, and writing.

This is a unique program that assists the student in the memorization of the phonetic rules in English.  The program has been used nationally for students in general education, special education, and English language learners.

Can HELPS, LLC assist students who are labeled as ESL or ELL? TOP

Yes.  HELPS, LLC can give teachers, tutors, and parents resources and strategies for students who have been labeled ESL or ELL or whose first language is not English.

Can Memory Magic help students who have been diagnosed as having Autism or Asperger's Syndrome? TOP

Yes.  Students with autism have enjoyed using this program.  The system includes repetition and memorization which are skills that students with autism can use with success.

Who should purchase the Alphabet Book? TOP

Parents, teachers, or tutors can use the Alphabet Book with students who are learning English.  The books are written in the predictable book format so students can memorize the pattern. 

The books are done in black and white and can be colored for added interest.  There are two books per page - one for the student and one for the instructor.
